Module 2 Lesson 3
Hello again!
It's the middle of the third Blended Course week. How are You today? Ready to discuss something really scary?Today we're talking about cults and study "supernatural" phenomena! BOO!!!
1. Vocabulary
Study the vocabulary list and make the training test below:
Atheist — a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods;

supernatural-not existing in nature, not physical or material;

a cult — is group of people defined by a "religious" devotion to something — often a self-appointed leader;

superstition — a belief that things such as magic or luck have the power to affect your life

to pray -address requests to God or another deity;

to worship — the activity of showing respect and love for a god, for example by singing or praying;

a lucky charm — an object that is believed to bring its owner good luck;

reincarnation — the rebirth of a soul in another body;
a psychic — someone who is psychic has a mysterious power that lets them know what other people are thinking, or what is going to happen to them;

a fortune-teller —  someone who looks at your hand, a special set of cards etc in order to tell you what is going to happen to you in the future. This activity is called fortune-telling;

a haunted house or ghosthouse — is a house or other building often perceived as being inhabited by disembodied spirits of the dead people;

witchcraft — the practice of magic, especially for evil purposes;

omen — a sign of something (usually bad) is about to happen;

prophecy — a prediction uttered under divine inspiration;

UFO - an unidentified flying object: a strange object that flies through the skythat no one can recognize. Some people think UFOs are a sign of life on other planets.
Phrasal verbs:

Knock on wood (touch wood) — a superstitious expression said to stop a confident statement from bringing bad luck;

as luck would have it — an expression used to describe something useful that has happened by chance;

scared out of one's wits — extremely frightened;

to make someone's blood run cold — to horrify someone;

ghost town — a deserted town;

witch hunt — to campaign against/punish a person/group with unorthodox/unpopular/threatening views.
